Escape the Negativity Vortex: Cultivate Positivity for a Brighter You
Life throws challenges our way - it's inevitable. Negative situations and difficult people can cast a dark cloud, draining our energy and hindering our well-being. But what if we told you that dwelling on negativity actually prolongs its power, while directing your attention towards the positive unlocks a path to empowerment and growth?
The Duality of Focus:
Our brains are wired to prioritize negativity. This served our ancestors well, helping them identify and avoid danger. However, in today's world, constant exposure to negativity – be it through news, social media, or even conversations - can overwhelm us, leading to:
Increased stress and anxiety
Decreased motivation and productivity
Negative self-talk and distorted thinking
Weakened immune system and overall health
Shifting Your Lens:
Instead of getting sucked into the negativity vortex, we have the power to consciously shift our focus. Here's why cultivating positivity is crucial for your well-being:
Empowers you to take control: When you focus on positive aspects, you feel more empowered to create positive changes in your life.
Boosts happiness and resilience: Positive thinking promotes the release of feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, leading to increased happiness and resilience against stress.
Enhances focus and productivity: A positive mindset improves your ability to concentrate and complete tasks, allowing you to achieve your goals.
Builds stronger relationships: Positivity fosters a more optimistic outlook, making you more approachable and fostering stronger connections with others.
Making the Switch:
So, how do we cultivate positivity? Here are some practical steps:
Practice gratitude: Start your day by acknowledging the good things in your life, no matter how small.
Surround yourself with positive people: Choose to spend time with those who uplift and inspire you.
Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth: See difficulties as stepping stones, not roadblocks.
Focus on solutions: Instead of dwelling on problems, actively seek solutions and take constructive action.
Practice mindfulness: Engage in activities that bring you peace and quiet your mind, such as meditation or spending time in nature.
Remember, cultivating positivity is a journey, not a destination. There will be days when negativity creeps in, but by consciously practicing these steps, you can build the mental strength to shift your focus and create a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.
Take charge of your thoughts, cultivate positivity, and watch your life blossom!
Make it Count
If you read one book this year may I suggest this one. There are only 9 chapters so it won’t take forever and therefore it is easy for you to dip in and out and it will make you feel good about things - IT IS NOT A SELF HELP BOOK
Benjamin Ferenzc’s unwavering cheerfulness, optimism about life and humanity are all inspiring.
I liked it a lot 👍 #makeitcount #greatread #greatlearning
Time for a thought 9 January 2024
'It is only by understanding another person's way of thinking that will enable you to reason with them and perhaps see your point of view. Shouting at someone or being shouted at changes nothing. ' Source: me 👍
Thought for the start of 2024
'Friends are important but it is good to make peace with your own company.' A great quotation from Benjamin Ferencz #dontforgetyourself#lookafteryourself

Stress Awareness Month
20 April 2023
April is 'stress awareness month' and has been held each year since 1992 so if there was ever a time to talk to friends and family about any issues you have this has to be the month. So let's help each other to reduce the stigma that is associated with stress by talking about the topic openly and freely with friends, family and colleagues. www.stress.org.uk
Distress to De-Stress
Mental Health Awareness Week 15 - 21 May 2023
As this year's Mental Health Awareness Week focusses on Anxiety let's do 1, 2, 3 or 4 things:
Have a look at their website to look for some great support and advice to help anyone who is unsure where to start at www.mentalhealth.org.uk
Talk to someone about any issues you may have, the saying of a 'problem shared is a problem halved' is so true in life but even more so when you can speak to someone who can listen and can help support you.
Support is not for a week so check on your family and friends at all times. Give them a call, a text or pop round to see them and ask 'are you ok?' all year. It is one of the simplest things you can do that will help people in such a massive way if they are too worried to ask.
Reach out to us for a free, confidential chat. Nothing helps more than finding someone who can listen to you and we are here for you if you want to talk Tel: 07785 616266
